Description
This house, located next to Church House on Church Street in Braunton, was originally a poorhouse sold around 1820. It was later converted into a malthouse and cornstore, with remodels in the 19th century and after a fire in the late 20th century. The building features whitewashed rubble and a slate roof, with a stack at the left gable end. It has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high. The facade facing Church Street includes two timber sash windows on each side of a central gabled timber sash window, which has glazing bars above a doorway located to the left of a garage entrance, all with barked lintels. On the south side, there are three timber sash windows on each floor, with 20th-century timber lintels. The house is included for its group value.
