Description
The building is a shippon, cartshed, and granary, dating from the mid to late 19th century, located approximately 10 metres southeast of Wheatlands Farmhouse. It is constructed of uncoursed stone rubble, with a weatherboarded timber frame over the cartshed, and features a gable-ended slate roof. The structure is positioned at right angles to Wheatlands Farmhouse, facing southwest, with the ground sloping to the right.
The shippon is on the left side and has four windows; the outer two have stone flat-arched heads, while the third window has a wooden lintel. There is a doorway between the first and second windows from the left, which also has a flat stone-arched head. The granary is on the right, featuring a small-paned window and an open-fronted cartshed below. The right-hand gable end includes a boarded loft door with a stone flat-arched head, accessed by a flight of 10 brick and stone external steps. The interior has only been partially inspected, but the roof over the right-hand end is supported by tie-beam trusses.
