Description

Westacott Headstone, located approximately 10 metres south-west of the south porch of the Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, dates from 1841. This headstone is made of slate and features a shaped head with floriated decoration at the center and scalloped corners. It is surrounded by an encircling verse that reads, "In the morning it is green and groweth up but in the evening it is cut down dried up and withered." The inscription commemorates Elizabeth Apps Westacott, who died on 25th February 1841, and Maria Westacott, who died in 1842, each accompanied by their respective verses.
