Description
Loverings is a farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages. It likely dates from the late 17th century and was remodeled in the 20th century. The building is constructed of rendered stone and cob with a slate roof featuring gable ends. There is a small brick chimney at the left end and an axial brick stack, along with two lateral stacks at the rear that have offsets and tall brick shafts. Originally, it had a three-room and cross-passage layout, with the lower end below the hall now forming a separate cottage and dairy at the right end, which has been incorporated into the right-hand cottage.
The structure is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical four-window range. The upper storey windows on the left two bays are set at a noticeably lower level than those on the right. It features 19th and 20th century two and three-light casements, a cross-passage door, and a 19th century four-panelled door to the left of the hall window, which has three lights with two panes per light. There are also inserted 20th century doors at each end and a lean-to at the right end. Inside, the hall includes a creamery niche and some 19th century joinery. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the house served as a Quaker Meeting House.
