Description
West Herscott is a farmhouse, likely dating from the 16th or 17th century. It features painted rendered cob and a thatch roof with gable ends. The building has an axial brick shaft leading to a rubble stack, as well as a brick stack at the left end. It may have originally been designed as a three-cell cross-passage plan, with the upper end possibly used for farm storage and having first floor access to the rear. The lower end appears to have been rebuilt or extended in the 18th or 19th century to create a single-cell cottage. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a six-window range, with 20th-century windows. The interior has not been inspected.
