Description
This listing describes a group of two pairs of gravestones and one headstone belonging to the Beer family, located approximately 5 metres east of the south-east corner of the Church of St John. The gravestones date from the 18th century and early 19th century.
One headstone features a shaped top and bears an inscription for George Beer, who died in 1775, along with a verse. There is also a headstone and footstone made of slate, inscribed for William Beer, who died in 1808 after 'dying by a fall from a horse'. The footstone has a shaped head and includes a long verse. Additionally, there is a twin headstone with a footstone, both made of slate, featuring straight heads and incised twin semi-circular arches. The left side of this headstone is inscribed for William Beer, who died in 1817, with a verse on the footstone.
