Description

The Slocombe headstone, dating from 1786, is located against the east wall of the south transept, approximately 2 metres south of the south wall of the nave of the Church of St John Baptist in Instow. This headstone is made of slate and features a nowy arched top with incised busts of angels. The inscription reads, "Here lieth ye body of George Slocombe died 1786. Also his son William died 1835."
