Description
This is an early 19th-century house with a shop. It was altered in the early 20th century with a new shop front. The house has solid rendered walls and a slate roof. A red brick chimney is on the left side wall, likely shared with the adjacent property at No. 19. Another chimney is on the rear wing, featuring an old-shaped pot. The house was probably originally double-fronted, with two rooms deep and a central staircase to the right. A low, single-story wing extends to the left of the main building, and a high courtyard wall stands to the right, which may have lean-to buildings behind it.
The two-window façade has an early 20th-century shop front on the left, placed within a segmental-arched opening with eared architrave and a stepped keystone. The shop front includes display windows with green glazed tile plinths, and a transom light with coloured leaded glass. To the right is a smaller, square-headed shop front with matching features. The upper-storey windows are sashes: the left window has 8 over 8 panes, and the right window has 6 over 6 panes. A small boxed eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. A small, round-arched stair window with radial bars is visible on the right side wall, facing a public alley. The rear wall features small-paned sashes. The interior of the house was not inspected.
