Description

This is a chest tomb from the early 19th century, located approximately 9 metres south-west of the south-west corner of the west tower of the Church of St John the Baptist. It features a slate slab resting on a brick base. The head of the slate slab has incised decoration and includes the verse "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord." The tomb bears an inscription for John Cridge of Whilcombe, who died in 1823, and his wife, who died in 1837.
