Description
Honiton Barton is a 17th-century E-shaped house, dated 1676 above the doorway, located in South Molton. It features a rear L-wing that served as a dairy range. The building is two storeys high, constructed from stone rubble, and has a slate roof. There are five stone mullioned and wooden casement windows, some of which have leaded lights. The two-storeyed porch displays the date 1676 and the initials APC. Inside, the house boasts chamfered beams, 17th-century panelling, old studded doors, a 17th-century dog leg staircase with turned balusters, and a bread oven. There may also be a 17th-century decorated plaster ceiling beneath false ceilings in two bedrooms on the first floor.
