Description
Clapworthy Mill and attached Miller's House date to the early 19th century, with a front extension added to the mill in 1887. The building is constructed of unrendered stone rubble, with a slate roof to gable ends. The mill is a large, three-storey rectangular structure, with a covered wheel-pit located towards the rear left side, abutting the miller’s house. A three-storey addition, matching the original style, was built forward on the front gable end of the mill in 1887. The mill's windows are 2-light casements with 2 panes per light. A principal entrance is located on the left side, sheltered by a deep, gabled timber porch. There is an additional entrance at the front gable end. The miller’s house is of two storeys, featuring a three-window range, with 2-light casements and a central half-glazed plank door. The mill wheel and machinery are no longer present, but the sack hoists and trap doors remain. The interior is largely unaltered and retains original flooring, supported by heavy cross ceiling beams, stair ladders, and 19th-century trusses.
