Description
West Pitton Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse located in Cheriton Bishop. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, featuring a rubble stack with a brick top and a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and faces west. It is designed as a lobby entrance house with a three-room plan. To the left is the kitchen service room, which has a small lobby beyond that includes its own front door and a small 19th-century casement window above.
The front of the house is symmetrical with two 19th-century casement windows that have glazing bars. The main entrance door is sheltered by a plain wooden porch from the 20th century. The roof is half-hipped on the right side, and the south end features a 19th-century three-light casement window to the left and a plank door with strap hinges on the right (rear) end. This door includes a panel of mid-19th-century shaped leaded panes and a central painted roundel. There is also a tiny two-light oak window on the first floor, which has chamfered mullions and square panes of old leaded glass. The interior is noted for its plainly finished carpentry.
