Description
The Langdon and Heathfield chest tombs are located about 3 metres northwest of the east end of the aisle of St Michael and All Angels. The Langdon chest tomb, dating from the early 19th century, is a rectangular structure with a plinth and an oversailing lid. The earliest legible inscription commemorates Mary Langdon, who died in 1829. The railings are missing.
To the north, there is a medieval-style coped chest tomb with a plinth and an ornamental cross carved in relief on the lid. This tomb has inscriptions on the side, with the earliest commemorating Thomas Heathfield, who died in 1847. However, the style suggests it may date from the 1870s. An inscription on the south side commemorates John Edwards, who died in 1874. The railings for this tomb are also missing.
