Description
Jane's Cottage, located 150 metres south-south-west of Hillersdon House, is a former summerhouse that has been converted into a holiday cottage. It was likely built in 1848 by Samuel Beazley. The cottage is constructed of red brick with stone dressing, and the accommodation at the rear is topped with a pyramidal slate roof.
The front of the cottage features a 5-bay design, with the middle three bays creating a Venetian entrance that includes Ionic pilasters and is topped with a pediment. The doors, windows, and fanlight are from the 20th century. The side windows are 2-pane hornless sashes with margin panes, set in renewed concrete surrounds. There is a 20th-century entrance leading to the rear accommodation, which has a central round-headed recess on its rear elevation. This recess is flanked by two planked canted doors and two-light casement windows with a transom.
