Description
The Talbot chest tomb, located approximately 4.5 metres south of the chancel of the Church of All Saints, is an early 19th-century memorial to James Talbot. It is made of Portland stone ashlar and has a rectangular shape, resting on a moulded plinth. Each corner features clasping pilasters that create panels on each side. The lid of the tomb is flat and does not project, with a low-pitched ridge along the top. The south side of the tomb is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, although this inscription is very worn. The name "James Talbot" is still legible, but the date of his death is not.
