Description
This is a cast iron headstone from the mid-19th century, located about 12 meters north-west of the west tower of the Church of St Mary in Morchard Bishop. The headstone features a Gothick design, with an upright structure that includes a central panel shaped like a Tudor arch, topped with a plain cross. It is flanked by narrow panels that are pointed arch-headed. The panels are sunken, and the hollow-chamfered frame has cusps that create trefoil heads. The main panel bears the inscription 'Sacred to the memory of', although the two iron memorial plaques that were once present are no longer there.
