Description

This is a house, dating from the 1820s, located on Union Terrace, Crediton. It is one of a row of well-preserved Georgian properties.

The house is stuccoed with blocked-out detailing, and has return walls finished with roughcast. It features a slate roof with deep eaves, supported by moulded brackets, and brick stacks, with one projecting from the left end. The building is arranged in an "L" shape, with a rear service wing.

The front façade is symmetrical, with three bays, and a staircase leading to a central six-panel front door, which has a fanlight with lozenge-patterned glazing bars within a doorcase featuring pilasters with fretwork decoration and panelled reveals. The ground floor has two long casement windows with glazing bars and margin panes, as does the first floor, which has three such windows. Some of the windows retain older glass. The three first-floor windows are each accompanied by a shallow, bowed balcony made of cast iron, featuring a lattice design with star motifs at the intersections.

The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
