Description
This is a stable block, likely built around 1848 by Samuel Beazley, situated 50 metres north of Hillersdon House. Constructed of red brick with a gabled-end slate roof, the stable block comprises a main range with cross wings and a central polygonal porch, all topped with a hipped roof. A decorative dentilled cornice runs throughout. Two axial brick stacks rise from the building.
The front of the main range has two windows on the upper floor, one being a 12-pane hornless sash window. The polygonal porch features a 12-pane hornless sash window. Large carriage entrances, fitted with sliding wooden doors, are positioned on either side of the main range. The cross wings have entrances on their inner faces, along with 16-pane hornless sash windows on the first floor and lunettes (circular windows) on the ground floor. The gable walls are treated as pediments with dentillation and incorporate ten pigeon nesting boxes in each gable. A temporary corrugated iron shelter is attached to the front of the left-hand wing.
