Description
This chest tomb, located approximately 8 meters south of the porch of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, is likely from the late 17th century. It is made of granite ashlar and has a rectangular shape with a moulded plinth and a soffit-moulded lid. The lid has weathered significantly, rendering the inscription illegible, but a recessed shield with bas-relief arms can still be discerned below the inscription. The long sides of the tomb are plain, while both ends feature square recessed panels adorned with bas-relief carvings. The east panel displays a diagonal cross with arrow-head ends above a roundel with a dimpled top, accompanied by a small heart above and a small roundel below. The west panel features an oval with simple facial features alongside another diagonal cross with arrow-head ends, both positioned over scrolls.
