Description

Tower Hill Cottage is a late 19th-century cottage, likely dating from circa 1870-90, with an extension added circa 1983. The original cottage is constructed of plastered cob, rubble, and brick, with brick stacks and a thatched roof. It was initially a two-room house facing east, with stacks projecting from the gable ends. A single-room extension was added circa 1983 to the right (south) end, set back from the main front. The original cottage has a symmetrical two-window facade, featuring two-light casement windows with glazing bars. The first-floor windows have segmental brick arches. A central plank door is fitted with vertical cover moulds, ornate strap hinges, and a 20th-century glass-sided gabled thatched porch. The extension of circa 1983 has two windows and plain carpentry detail inside.
