Description
The front terrace walls, located approximately 20 metres southeast and 3 metres southwest of Holcombe Court, were built around 1859 to 1863. They are made of snecked local limestone and feature a Hamstone parapet. Holcombe Court is set into the hillside, and a broad, flat terrace extends around the left (southwest) side, created by revetting the slope. The revetment has a noticeable batter, supported by a series of sloping buttresses. The terrace is topped with an open Hamstone parapet, which is interrupted by low posts above each buttress. On the southwest side, there is a flight of stone steps leading down from the terrace to the landscaped gardens and the serpentine lake. This terrace, along with other buildings associated with Holcombe Court, contributes to an attractive group at the upper end of Holcombe Rogus Village.
