Description

The chapel, located 110 metres northeast of Bridwell Park, is a Grade II* listed building that is now derelict. It was built in 1792 and formerly served Bridwell Park. The roof may date back to the 14th or 15th century and is believed to have been brought from another building. The structure is made of coursed and random rubble volcanic trap and features a gabled-end slate roof. It is a single cell structure with three window bays and a porch at the liturgical west end.

On the south side, there are three timber, 4-light square-headed windows, each with stone hood moulds and ogee-headed lights, along with remains of latticed leading. The entrance front has a round-headed entrance with ball capitals and a square-headed window above, which is partially collapsed. This wall likely once had inscription panels. The north elevation has no windows. There are external stacks at both ends, with the one above the porch featuring a moulded cap, while the other end may have a bellcote, though details are obscured by ivy growth.

Inside, all fittings and finishings have been removed, but the roof appears to be medieval, consisting of six bays with principals rising from castellated scallop-shaped corbels. It has collars with arch braces that feature bead moulding and decorated bosses, along with two pairs of trenched purlins and three tiers of wind braces.
