Description
The stables immediately north-north-east of Bridwell Park are a stable block dated 1779. Constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof, the building features a main range with end cross wings and stands two storeys tall.
The front of the stables has a central carriage entrance with a date plaque above it and a two-light window on either side. The inner faces of the wings contain two round-headed entrances for horses on the left, with similar but smaller entrances on the right. There is an axial stack on the right-hand wing and a weather-vane on the left.
At the rear, there is a central carriageway with a two-light window in each wing, providing access to a hay-loft on the first floor. One wing has a 20th-century brick extension.
Inside, the left-hand wing contains three loose boxes, while the main range has two stalls, all of which retain their original fittings.
