Description

Number 10 Pennsylvania Road is a house dating from around 1820 to 1830. It is a two-storey, three-window wide building with a pedimented front, rendered in stucco. The original glazing bars have been removed from the windows. Tuscan pilasters run down the front of the building. A porch features columns with decorative, pseudo-Corinthian capitals and a pediment. The entrance is via a six-panel door with a rectangular window above. The roof is slate. It is believed that the house was built by prisoners and served as the residence of the Prison Governor. The building is part of a group with numbers 8 to 14 (even) on the east side of Pennsylvania Road.
