Description
This is an end-of-terrace town house, built around 1845 to 1855. It is now divided into flats. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof and cast iron rainwater pipes. The chimney stack is rendered from the attic level upwards, with some original chimney pots remaining.
The house is three storeys high. It has deep eaves with a boxed cornice and eaves brackets flanking the windows on the second floor. The front elevation is regular, with two windows per bay. The doorcase has a projecting cornice supported by brackets; the door has panelled reveals and a rectangular overlight, and features two vertical fielded panels. A keyed, round-headed arched window is located on the ground floor to the left, containing a two-pane horned sash window. The first floor has two windows with flat arches and keystones, each with a six/nine-pane hornless sash and iron trellis balconies. The second floor has twelve-pane hornless sash windows. A hornless sash window is visible on the left return at attic level, with missing vertical glazing bars.
The interior has not been inspected, but may contain original features of interest. The house adjoins the end of the terrace including numbers 51-57, and contributes to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
