Description

53 High Street is a late 19th century to early 20th century building that may incorporate elements from an earlier structure. It has four storeys and features two windows. The front is richly decorated with half-timbering in the Elizabethan style, although it has a modern shopfront. On the second floor, there is a central niche that holds a statue of Leofric from 1059. The building is topped with a cornice and a gable that has barge-boarding and a carved finial. Nos 53 to 60 on High Street are part of a group of buildings.
