Description

A pair of houses dated circa 1830, located on Church Street, Heavitree, with later alterations. The houses are built with mass wall construction and roughcast render, with No. 9 being painted. They have hipped slate roofs, red ridge tiles, a stack with a red brick chimneyshaft, and cast iron rainwater goods. The plan is rectangular, with two rooms wide. No. 11, on the right-hand side, has a large extension to the rear, while No. 9 has a chimneystack to its left end.

The exterior presents a symmetrical three-bay front to each house. Deep boxed eaves are present, incorporating paired shaped brackets. The windows have stucco architraves, with small keyblocks on the ground floor of No. 11. The central entrances include a 20th-century porch and a six-panel door (the top four panels glazed) for No. 9; and a very early 19th-century geometric iron porch, a six-panel door (the top four panels glazed), and a rectangular overlight with geometric glazing bars for No. 11. No. 9 has upvc small-pane windows throughout. No. 11 has hornless sash windows without glazing bars.

The interior has not been inspected.
