Description

These ten properties, numbered 1 to 8, form a terrace on the south side of Friars Walk, dating to around 1840 and built in the Greek Revival style. They were designed as a group of four pairs, intended to resemble individual detached houses. Each pair has a two-story, three-window stucco facade. The central windows are blind, and the ground-floor windows are topped with pediments, some of which incorporate acroteria. The wide eaves are supported by brackets, and the buildings have hipped roofs with dormers. Quoin pilasters are decorated with incised lines and a honeysuckle motif. Side entrances are found in porches, most of which have been altered; numbers 3 and 4 retain Tuscan porches with broken pediments. The roofs are slate and feature a central chimney stack. Numbers 1 to 12, when considered together, form a cohesive group.
