Description
Duryard House, also known as the University Hall of Residence, dates from around 1700 and is constructed of red brick. The building has two storeys and features five sash windows with glazing bars. It has a central pediment with a bullseye and a steeply pitched slate roof, which is adorned with two dormers that have semi-circular pediment heads. There are 19th-century side pavilions attached to the main structure. A modern porch, doorway, and balustrade have been added. Inside, notable features include a fine 18th-century staircase and linen-fold panelling, which is believed to have originated from the Mayor's Parlour in the Guildhall.
