Description

18 Cathedral Yard is a house rebuilt around 1910. It is constructed of red brick with stucco dressings, featuring pilasters and an entablature on each level. The building is four storeys high with an attic, and has four windows per floor. It has arched sash windows, a heavy cornice, and a slate roof. The front rooms have been fitted out in an elaborate Louis Quinze style. The staircase includes a curious double gallery, and may contain genuine 18th-century woodwork, featuring turned balusters and inlaid treads. Doorcases on the first-floor landing are also potentially original to the 18th century. The building is part of a group value with the other listed buildings of Cathedral Yard and numbers 1 and 2 Deanery Place.
