Description

The Briars is a large, sprawling house that has been added to at various times. The irregularly shaped wing facing the road may date from the early 19th century and features a simple late Georgian doorcase and oriel windows with diagonal glazing bars. The main front, which is finished in stucco, is a striking example of mid-19th century Gothic architecture, complete with gables, bargeboards, and hood-moulds. The roof is covered with fish scale slates.
