Description
The Musbury War Memorial is a dark freestone structure located on top of the churchyard wall, to the west of the Church of St Michael, which is a Grade I-listed building, and immediately to the right of the churchyard gate. Designed like a shrine, the memorial features a tablet mounted on a raised panel with a pedimented top and two curved braces on the sides that create a shelf at the front for placing floral tributes. The pediment is adorned with a carved relief wreath, with the dates 1914 and 1919 on either side.
The inscription on the memorial reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN/ FROM THIS PARISH WHO/ FELL IN THE TWO GREAT WARS./ 1914 – 1918/ (8 NAMES)/ MISSING/ (1 NAME)/ 1939 – 1945/ (4 NAMES)/ MAY THEY REST IN PEACE." The names of the fallen are listed along with their respective regiments or services.
