Description
The Manor House, located at No. 143 on the High Street, is a town house that was once associated with the Abbots of Dunkeswell. The building, which likely dates back to the 17th century, has undergone later alterations. It features a three-storey stone front with six windows, part of which is now roughcast. There are two three-storey square bays that contain five-light stone mullion windows. The remaining windows are four-light wood casements, which are not original, and have flat arches with rusticated voussoirs and keystones. The structure includes a plinth and a parapet above a cornice. A wide Tuscan porch marks the centre carriageway. The building is noted for its historical associations. Nos 143 to 157 (odd) form a group.
