Description
Farrant Cottage is a cottage with origins dating from the 17th or 18th century, although most of its structure is from the early 19th century. It is built of random rubble and features a thatched roof, which is adjacent to the Beehive, and a gabled Welsh slate roof on the early 19th century rear wing. The cottage has a brick end stack and a plan that includes a small wing at the rear of the Beehive and a two-unit rear wing. It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range on the southeast side. There is a two-light casement window above the door and beneath the thatched roof to the right, while the early 19th century wing has 20th century casements. The interior includes principal-rafter trusses with crossed apexes. Farrant Cottage is part of a notable group of thatch-roofed buildings that form the hamlet of Street.
