Description
This is an 18th-century headstone made of hamstone, located approximately 1 metre north of the aisle of the Church of St John in Yarcombe. The upright slab stands about 1.4 metres high and features a shaped head that is carved with an hourglass, flanked by winged cherub heads and scrolls. Below the head, there is a panel surrounded by a frame, although any decoration has worn away over time. The inscription on the headstone has completely faded, but it appears that it was divided into two columns by a carved cord, suggesting that it may have been a joint headstone for a husband and wife.
