Description

Outbuildings, garden walls, and the enclosing wall and balustrade to Stedcombe House are significant structures from the 1690s, with some parts rebuilt in the early 19th century. The outbuildings, which were formerly a stableyard, are constructed of Flemish bond brick and feature a slate lean-to roof on the east range and a gabled corrugated asbestos roof on the south range. The layout is L-shaped, connected by a wall with an archway to the southeast. The east range is primarily single-storey, with rubbed brick arches above the doors and windows, while the northern section retains a two-storey elevation, featuring a segmental-arched door and window. The south range is two storeys high, with a segmental-arched double doorway, windows, and a late 19th-century loft door and central double entry. The interior has a mid-19th-century roof. The yard to the west is enclosed.

The garden walls date from the 1690s and are made of stone-coped Flemish bond brick, enclosing two rectangular terrace gardens. The northern enclosure, approximately 30 by 35 meters, is attached to the outbuildings on the west side, while the southern kitchen garden enclosure measures about 30 by 30 meters. Gravel paths surrounding the house are bordered by low stone-coped brick walls, which were heavily restored in 1989, featuring a Portland stone balustrade and a flight of steps on the west side.

Additionally, there are garden walls from the early to mid-18th century made of red brick in Flemish bond with stone coping, enclosing two rectangular terrace gardens. In front of the house, there is a flight of steps leading to the upper garden, flanked by brick piers topped with stone cornices and urns. The lower level to the south contains a second walled enclosure that serves as the kitchen garden.
