1/102 The White House or Ebford House, 11.11.52 - II

Substantial detached house. Early C19. Stuccoed brick; gabled-end slate roof. Central entrance hall with principal room to either side. Stairs to the rear of entrance hall, and service rooms to rear. 3 storeys. Front: symmetrical 5 window range; rusticated quoins, moulded cornice and parapet. Hornless sash windows to 2nd and 3rd floors, the former with 12 panes, the latter with 3 panes up, 6 down. Tall, later-C19 ground floor casement windows with transom and an almost identical central door. Verandah on simple paired posts, the roof of concave profile. End elevations with prominent external stacks occupying most of the wall space, the parapet ramped to either side. Cogged brick caps to chimney shafts. Irregular fenestration to rear; 3 of the 4 3rd floor windows as front; lst floor with one 12-pane hornless sash window and another of 8 panes (with margin panes) under a segmental arch; another 12 pane sash window, and a tripartite 4:8:4 pane sash window to ground floor. A 1980s window has been inserted at 1st floor level, and another in the right-hand end elevation, ground floor. Some contemporary joinery survives internally.
