Description

Cummins Farm House is a circa early 16th century hall house, with floors added around the 16th and 17th centuries. It is constructed of stone rubble with a corrugated iron roof, featuring a half-hipped profile and gabled ends with stone coping. The house has a long six-window front. The first floor has two-light wooden-frame windows with leaded panes. The ground floor windows are hollow-chamfered stone mullion windows with hood-moulds and leaded panes. A plank door is located centrally, leading to a cross passage. A circa 18th or 19th century extension with a hipped slate roof is situated at the lower (southwest) end.

The interior contains what appear to be jointed cruck trusses. There's a plank and muntin screen dividing the cross passage, and two chamfered four-centred arch doorways leading to the stairs. An inserted floor features stopped chamfer ceiling beams. A chamfered bressumer is visible above the fireplaces, one of which has chamfered stone jambs. A stone chimneypiece in a first-floor room is inscribed with the date 1605. A plank and muntin screen and arched doorway are also present in a first-floor room.
