Description

The Vincent headstone, dated 1788, is located approximately 4 metres north of the tower of the Church of St John in Yarcombe. This Grade II listed headstone is made of hamstone and stands about 1.3 metres high. Its shaped top features a carved winged cherub's head flanked by scrolls. Below this, the panel is framed with scrolled foliage. The inscription begins with Gothic lettering, while the remainder is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, commemorating the death of John Vincent in 1788.
