Description
The Dommet chest tomb, located approximately 1 metre east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary, is a chest tomb from the late 18th century to early 19th century, commemorating Samuel Dommet. It is made of beerstone and stands on a chamfered plinth, featuring a plain flat lid. The sides of the tomb have rectangular panels framed with double beading. The panel facing south includes an inscription in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, which records the death of Samuel Dommet and his wife. However, a section of the inscription has broken off, which included Mrs. Dommet's name and the years of their deaths.
