Description

Appletree Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century and was modernised around 1980. It is constructed of plastered cob on local stone rubble footings, with stone rubble stacks topped with 20th-century brick, and features a thatch roof. The cottage has a two-room plan facing south-west, with each room having a gable-end stack; the larger room is located at the right end. It is two storeys high and has a 20th-century lean-to outshot on the left end, which is now used for domestic purposes, and a 20th-century garage on the right. The exterior has a symmetrical two-window front with casements that have a rectangular leaded pane effect. The central doorway features a 20th-century door behind a contemporary thatch-roofed porch, and the roof is gable-ended. The interior was not available for inspection at the time of this survey. Appletree Cottage is part of a group with the nearby Yeomans Cottage.
