Description

Sunnyside and Wren Cottage are two cottages, originally three, likely built in the 18th century. They are constructed of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, with stone rubble stacks topped by 20th-century brick, and feature a thatched roof. The cottages face southeast, with Wren Cottage occupying the center and right rooms, while No 3 Sunnyside occupies the left cottage. An axial stack between the two cottages serves back-to-back fireplaces. Wren Cottage has a front lobby entrance, and No 3 Sunnyside has an end stack. All three front rooms have integral two-storey service outshots behind them, with No 3 having a secondary service outshot projecting to the rear at right angles. The exterior features an overall three-window front with late 19th and 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. Both doorways are from the 20th century, with the one for Wren Cottage having a thatched porch supported by rustic posts. The main roof is hipped at both ends. Inside, there is plain carpentry detail where exposed, although most is covered with plaster. The roof has not been inspected. These cottages are part of a charming group of buildings near the village green and the Church of St Mary.
