Description
Pound is a farmhouse dating from around the early 16th century, originally built as a hall house. It has a stone rubble construction and a thatched roof with gabled ends. The building stands two storeys high and features a long range of four windows. The windows are modern, being 20th-century two-light casements with leaded panes. There are also two 20th-century bay windows with slate roofs, positioned above an off-centre doorway. At the centre of the rear, there is a wing that has a thatched hipped roof, with outshuts on either side; the outshut on the southeast side is from the 20th century.
Inside, the farmhouse has jointed cruck trusses that show signs of smoke-blackening, indicating its historical use. There is a cross passage with heavy timber studding and stopped chamfered ceiling beams. The fireplace at the north end features a stopped chamfer bressummer. Additionally, there is a plank and muntin partition leading to the rear wing, which includes a chamfered cambered arch doorway.
