Description

The Burough chest tomb, located approximately 500mm east of the south aisle of the Church of St Lawrence, dates from 1665 and commemorates Grace Burough. It is constructed of Beerstone ashlar and flint rubble. The tomb has a rectangular shape and features a flat lid with a soffit-moulded design. The plinth is buried, and the chest is made of flint rubble. On the south side, there is a rectangular Beerstone plaque inscribed with Roman serif capital letters, which records the death of Grace Burough in 1665.
