Description

The Dalwood War Memorial is a First World War memorial, erected around 1920. It is made of carved granite and is located within the churchyard of the Grade I listed St Peter’s Church. The memorial is situated south-west of the Grade II listed 17th century Old Yew Cottage and west of the Grade II listed 16th century Tucker Arms public house.

The memorial features a roughly hewn granite cross, approximately 1.8 meters tall, with a Celtic head on a tapering shaft that rises from a trapezoidal granite plinth. The front of the plinth is inscribed with the words ‘TO OUR DALWOOD HEROES 1914-1919’, and it lists sixteen names beneath this inscription. The plinth is supported by a square granite base.
