Description
Plymtree United Reform Church is a non-conformist church dated 1850. It is constructed from roughly-shaped grey limestone blocks laid in rough courses, with sandstone ashlar detailing. The building has a single cell gable-end plan, featuring a gabled entrance porch on the south front. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear.
The exterior includes a centrally gabled porch on the south end, which contains two trefoil-headed lancets. The doorway on the left side has been rebuilt in the 20th century. The porch is flanked by tall trefoiled-headed lancets and an oculus window above. A large plaque inscribed with the date 1850 is positioned above the porch. Low set back buttresses are located at the main corners and similar buttresses divide the regular four-window fronts on each side.
Inside, the church retains a largely original roof with simple braced trusses. At the north end, there is a large blind arch with text painted above it. The original plain pine furniture includes a well-crafted rostrum.
