Description
This is a mid- to late 19th-century cottage situated on the east side of High Street, East Budleigh. The cottage has plaster-covered walls, likely brick construction, brick stacks topped with late 19th-century chimney pots, and a slate roof. It is a small, two-room building facing west. A central staircase and stack are located on the left party wall, sharing a common wall with the adjacent property at 46 High Street. The cottage features a symmetrical two-window facade with 19th-century two-light casement windows with glazing bars, and a central six-panel door. The roof line aligns with those of its neighbors. The interior has not been inspected. 44 High Street contributes to a group of attractive and varied listed buildings near the Church of All Saints.
