Description
Bakers is a house dating from around the 16th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and is partly plastered, featuring a thatched roof with hipped and half-hipped ends and eyebrow eaves. The ridge and eaves of the lower (west) end slope down to a lower level. The house has two storeys and a range of four to five windows, which include two, three, and four-light casements with glazing bars. There is a left-hand gabled dormer and an off-centre doorway with a plank door, accompanied by a modern thatched porch. Brick ridge chimney stacks are present.
Inside, the house has stopped chamfered ceiling beams and a fireplace with a chamfered bressumer and jambs. There is also evidence suggesting that a timber screen, likely of the plank and muntin type, was located in the eastern (upper) end of the house.
