Description

This is a house, dating from the early 16th century, originally a hall house with a floor inserted around the late 16th century. It is constructed of plastered stone rubble or cob, with a thatched roof featuring half-hipped ends and eyebrow eaves. The house has two storeys and a five-window front. The upper (west) end was initially an outbuilding. Modern metal frame casements with later panes are in the windows. A modern door leads to a cross passage, sheltered by a modern thatched rustic porch, located near the east end. Rendered chimney stacks rise from the ridge and ends of the roof. A small, two-light chamfered wood mullion window is visible at the rear. A short, modern rear wing with a half-hipped thatched roof has been added.

Inside, the roof structure consists of jointed cruck trusses. At the higher end, a plank and muntin screen features a four-centred arch, chamfered doorway. A similar doorway is on the other side of the cross passage, and another doorway, originally an external rear door, is located at the end of the cross passage. The interior also includes stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, a chamfered fireplace bressumer with stone jambs, and an Adam-style chimney piece in a first-floor room.
