Description
The Carter monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 4 metres north of the north wall of the Church of St. Sampson. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a moulded table and base, fluted end pilasters, and carved scrollwork on the side panels, with cherub heads depicted on the north side. It commemorates E. Carter, who died in 1779.
